At Madonna Learning Center the grant will be used for the purchase two Desktop iMacs for use by their full-time staff occupational therapists. Madonna’s two occupational therapists use the iMacs to teach their students and adults typing skills, office skills such as sending emails and the specialized program, “Shared Note”. “Shared Note” is a program that aids communication skills between peers, as well as between families
and children. The use of the iMac keyboard also helps with eye-hand coordination and enhances cognitive and processing skills
for their students and adults with disabilities.

At Porter-Leath the grant will be used for their ongoing preschool program which serves 1,200 children and families at five sites across Memphis. The preschools strive to positively affect the lives of children of under-resourced communities by making sure students are ready for kindergarten on day one– academically, socially, and developmentally. To meet these goals, Porter-Leath implements an evidence-based curriculum and offers health, disability, and nutrition services.

Additionally, Porter-Leath provides vital wrap around services to families enrolled in the program. Each family is assigned a family service liaison who coordinates developmental, vision, dental, and medical screenings. The family service liaisons coordinate services for all Preschool families to ensure that every child can develop to the maximum of their ability.
